How to get here

Findhorn is 5 miles north of Forres, on the south shore of the Moray Firth, in the county of Moray. The postcode is IV36 3YG. Click here for a Google Map view.

Forres is about 2 hours from Aberdeen to the east and 40 mins from Inverness to the west, and reachable by rail and bus from either.

By car, reckon on 3 1/2 hours from Edinburgh (170 miles), and maybe a little more from Glasgow. The route through the Cairngorms up the A9 by road or on the Edinburgh/Perth to Inverness train is stunning. (By car from the south take the A9 Perth to Aviemore, then come off and head to Grantown, then Forres. Don’t go via Aberdeen, which will take you about two hours longer!)

By rail from the south, take a fast train to Edinburgh, then Edinburgh to Inverness via Perth. FirstScotrail offer a sleeper from London arriving at Inverness about 8am. Look for ‘bargain berths’ on their website. A real adventure.

Flying. Inverness is served by BMI, Easyjet, Ryanair, Eastern Airways, Lufthansa, from Bristol, Gatwick, Luton, Liverpool, Belfast, Birmingham, Manchester, Southampton, Dusseldorf, Edinburgh, Manchester, East Midlands. For an uptodate list see Inverness Airport here.  You can get to Aberdeen from Malaga with Monarch, and from Paris with Air France. See Aberdeen Airport airlines and destinations.

You don’t really need a car up here. There are two shops in the village, two pubs, and three cafes, as well as the Findhorn Yacht Club. The 336 bus runs to Elgin and Forres every hour from the end of our lane. It will also take you deep into Whisky country, up to Dufftown. You just need to have a little more patience and enjoy the view when travelling by bus. Buses run every 20 mins along the A96 from Inverness to Aberdeen, via Forres and Elgin.Findhorn Map Findhorn Map
