Food, cafes, pubs..

Myrtle is bang in the middle of Findhorn.Findhorn

Food

  • Cafe/Restaurant next door (The Bakehouse). Serves lovely organic food, open on some  evenings, make sure you book.
  • The Kimberly Pub. Good food, mostly locally sourced. Nice couthy pub with big log fire, dogs and good beer.
  • Crown and Anchor. Big bar with tv screens. Cheaper food. Has WiFi.
  • The Bunty. Chippy. Great Fish and chips, open Wednesday to Monday 5-8pm. Grab a ‘fish supper’ here, a pint from the Crown, and go and sit by the piers. Heaven.

Shopping

  • Bakery 20 yds from the door. Smell the bread when you wake up.
  • Convenience store/post office 30 yds.
  • Deli in Findhorn Foundation 10 mins cycle ride. Amazing cheese counter.
  • Farm shop in Kinloss (go 1/2 mile past the air base gates, it is on the right) ‘woodside farm’, run by Moira. Give her our regards. Own Aberdeen Angus herd across the farmyard, steaks and roasts in the chiller cabinet!
  • Macbeths butcher in Tollbooth Street, Forres. I haven’t tasted better anywhere.
  • Lossie Fish Shop in Elgin, off South Street. Good fresh fish. There is also a fish lady who parks her van outside the shop in Findhorn and hoots her horn, at about 1pm on Thursdays!
  • And lastly, very much lastly, both Elgin and Forres have T**co’s.
