Festivals calendar – in and around Findhorn and Moray

Edinburgh is world famous for its Festival.

Look further afield, and you’ll find many local events and world renowned festivals in the area.

Some great events taking place over spring summer and autumn in and near Findhorn include:

Universal Hall- Findhorn. Regular music, dance and comedy events throughout the year in a friendly family environment. See website for what’s on.

Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival– within a cab or bus ride of the cottage – a bevy of tastings, dinners, dances and tours. Speyside has over half the distilleries in Scotland.

 Nairn Book and Arts Festival

Rockness–  in a field overlooking Loch Ness, 45 minutes from Findhorn.

PortsoyTraditional Boat Festival– Sea shanties, old wooden boats, hairy sailors, smoked herrings, local foods, all in a 300 year old harbour.

First weekend in July- Forres Highland Games – Traditional games in a wonderful village environment. A great day out.

Inverness Highland Games– Traditional games such as tossing the caber, highland dancing etc.

First weekend in August  – Inverness Tattoo– Massed pipe bands, army displays.

 Speyfest – Over 20 of the best traditional and contemporary Celtic artists from Scotland, Canada and beyond. A wonderfully vibrant music festival.

Nairn Show Local producers and breeders, as well as farm machinery for sale. Huge bulls, poultry tent, sheep, clootie dumpling competition, a wonderful country show not to be missed.

Tartan Heart Festival– at Belladrum Estate. Family oriented festival of rock, blues, world and country music.

Blas Music Festival– Traditional Highland Music- Second week of September at various venues throughout the Highlands.
